ACES Enrollee Dwayne Warrick is a Range Specialist with the Prescott Valley NRCS Field Office.  He assists NRCS field staff with ecological site descriptions, conservation planning, and rangeland inventories and monitoring.

Dwayne, a retired government employee from the Prescott National Forest, specializes in ranch planning and primarily works with public and private land ranchers who participate in the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP).  EQIP conservation practices involve: erecting fences, grazing management, water developments, erosion control, seeding and vegetation projects.  Once these conservation practices have been established with the ranchers, Dwayne accompanies NRCS staff in “monitoring” the land to measure the impacts of these practices.

Dwayne also assists in conducting yearly Range Management Workshops.  This is an opportunity for land owners to learn about approved conservation practices and cost-sharing opportunities.  NRCS is anticipating some changes in these practices with the new Farm Bill; however, these changes have yet to be promulgated.

Dwayne holds a B.A. in Forestry and a M.A. in Forest and Rangeland Management from Iowa State University.  His favorite aspect of the ACES position is getting out in the field, meeting the ranch owners and assisting in monitoring rangeland in the beautiful Prescott area.
