Oil and Gas Field Expert

Wage/Hr: $12.41 Hours/Week: 24 Minimum Age: 55
Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Petroleum Engineer, Geologist OR Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in oil and gas field exploration and production.

  • Ability to read and interpret acoustic, electric and gama ray logs. Must be able to understand relationships between common engineering practices for well and pit construction and effective practices to protect groundwater resources. A general understanding of groundwater hydrology is also necessary.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
Duties:

Assist the Aquifer Protection Team with approaches to groundwater protection in oil and gas production fields.

  • Assists EPA employees with understand and evaluating oil and gas industrial practices.    20%
  • Review and evaluate well logs and construction data.    30%
  • Write technical reports on general oil and gas field practices.    20%
  • Assists EPA employees with developing presentation for senior management, industry and the public.    10%
  • Attend meetings with industry representatives, state oil and gas commissions and environmental equality agencies and the public.    10%
  • Review citizen complaints, review monitoring data and gather information from state oil and gas commissions,    10%

Other:
  • Access to a privately owned vehicle: Most likely travel will be for meetings and field visits.
  • Overnight travel: Less than 3 nights/month.
  • Air travel anticipated: Maximum of 3 days per months.
  • Rental cars: Maximum of 3 days per year.
  • Required Safety Gear: coveralls, gloves, hard hat, steel-toed shoes and safety goggles/glasses.
  • Safety Gear Use: during oil and gas field site visits.
