Wyoming Drinking Water Liaison/Technical Assistant

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Chemistry/Engineering/Sciences/Hydrology/Geology OR Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in the operation of public water systems

  • Ability to perform sanitary surveys & provide technical assistance at public water systems. Must have a valid drivers license & access to a privately owned vehicle. Must have office space, telephone (cell or land-line), & internet access
  • Experience required with Windows, Facsimile, Copying Machine, MS Word, MS Excel
Duties:

Assist with direct implementation of National Primary Drinking Water Regulations in WY & Tribal Lands. Duties would include performing sanitary surveys at public water systems, providing technical/emergency assistance & training to operators of public water systems.

  • Conduct sanitary surveys at public water systems in WY & on Tribal Lands. To include scheduling survey with operator, on-site visit to conduct survey, written report submitted to EPA Region 8 within 45 days of completion of survey &any follow-up required.    50%
  • Perform microscopic particulate analysis (MPA) at public water systems that might be ground water under the direct influence of surface water & provide reports of the completed samples analysis.    10%
  • Provide technical assistance to public water systems in WY and Tribal Lands when requested by EPA Region 8. Provide reports of this technical assistance to EPA Region 8 in format specified by Region 8. Provide emergency assistance to public water systems as required by the Drinking Water Program.    30%
  • Provide training to operators of WY and Tribal public water systems as requested by EPA Region 8. Attend training and/or conferences & conduct presentations on a variety of subjects related to public water systems.    5%
  • Attend refresher training at EPA, Region 8 in Denver, CO if requested.    5%

Other:
  • On the job training.
  • Access to a privately owned vehicle: Privately-owned vehicle required for routine travel within State of WY. Mileage paid, based on Federal government rate.
  • Overnight travel: Maximum 3 – 4 nights per month.
  • Rental cars: May be required if other forms of travel are not available.
