Qualifications:
BA/BS Degree in Chemistry, Physical or Life Science, or Engineering. OR Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in any environmental work directly related to chemistry
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment used for sample preparation for environmental analysis. Experience with extractions, chromotography, sample clean-up, sample concentration, and general laboratory support.
- Experience required with Windows, Facsimile, Copying Machine, Multiple Phone Lines, MS Word, MS Excel, Lotus 123, MS Access
- Experience with laboratory equipment and techniques required for sample preparation for environmental analyses and general laboratory support.
Duties:
Provide chemical analytical support, method modification support, and data review support to OPP's BEAD Environmental Chemistry Branch.
- Assists in the preparation of various environmental samples and performs method validations for environmental chemistry methods. 50%
- Reviews analytical data to ensure that QA/QC criteria are being met and are in accordance to Quality Assurance Project Plans 10%
- Performs routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation. 10%
- Helps to execute analytical studies associated with OPP's monitoring studies, special projects and analytical support to Regions and States. 10%
- Performs analytical procedures for persticide residues. 10%
- Performs data entry in spreadsheets for dioxins and pesticide residues. 10%
