Qualifications:
AA Degree in or Certificate (Surveying, soil and water conservation, civil engineering or any agricultural field.) OR Minimum of 3 year(s) of experience in surveying, soil and water conservation, civil engineering.
- Valid driver's license required
- Experience required with Windows, Fax, Copying Machine, MS Word, MS Excel
- ArcMap & related ESRI GIS programs
- Glovbal Positioning System (GPS)
Duties:
Assist the District Conservationist with conservation planning, including field surveys and computer data entry.
- Field visits to farms to do conservation planning support. Field visits will include field data collection, site analysis, and surveying, 40%
- Conservation planning data entry to include mapping and practice scheduling. 40%
- Administration assistance to include program outreach and delivery and contract support. 20%
Other:- Training will be available for the agency specific Toolkit conservation planning computer program. On the job training will also be available.
- Overnight travel: Travel to specific areas will be done via government vehicle. Overnight travel may be required to attend necessary trainings such as Toolkit training. Not more than 1 or 2, 2 to 3 day trips per year.
- Health and Safety Considerations: Enrollee must ensure safety and health precautions are adhered to including reporting safety hazards, wearing seatbelts in automobiles, taking proper precautions on farming and construction sites. Safety training will be provided prior to work in the field Safety information provided by the safety officer will be forwarded as it is made available.
- Required Safety Gear: Rubber or disposable boots will be required for on the farm visits. Disposable boots will be provided as needed. Weather appropriate gear is also recommended: rain gear, winter coat, coveralls, etc.
- Safety Gear Use: Rubber or disposable boots are required on farm for biosecurity reasons.
