A Belated but Fond Farewell

Last fall NOWCC said au revoir to one of its founding principals with the retirement of Jack Everett.  His history with NOWCC and the SEE Program are straightforward and well known while his overall contributions and impact might have been overshadowed by his personal style and modesty.  Jack performed numerous roles in support of the SEE Program for 30 years, starting with his work on the Program in 1981 when it was administered by AARP, until 1997 when AARP handed off its sponsorship as a national SEE grantee to the newly created National Older Worker Career Center, NOWCC.

In addition to serving as a Vice President and Director of its Eastern Field Office, NOWCC benefited from Jack’s years of experience with and passion for EPA’s older worker employment program.  Jack’s commitment to promoting the value of the experienced worker made him a walking advertisement for the two programs managed by NOWCC – SEE and ACES; his human touch and joy in working with and for the older workers left a powerful legacy among his former colleagues, in NOWCC, EPA and with the other national grantee organizations.

His family of friends at NOWCC wishes Jack all the best in the next phases of his exploration of life, and we are fortunate to have him visit with us on a regular basis.  His smile and positive approach to any and all challenges are missed but not forgotten as he helped nurture the nature of NOWCC and the older worker programs that were his professional life and passion for so long.
