James C Kimmel
ACES Enrollee, James Kimmel, supports the Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS) field office in Placerville, California.
Jim, a Conservation Specialist, assists the Placerville field staff in the creation and application of resource conservation plans for USDA specified programs. He is able to utilize his engineering education and experience to provide support for the technical aspects in the planning process of the conservation programs. Additionally, he assists new Placerville field staff in providing conservation support and outreach to local farmers. He recently assisted with the completion of a micro-irrigation system designed for a 20 acre organic farm.
Because of his experience, he is asked to support additional NRCS field offices. In April 2009, Jim spent almost three weeks assisting the Fresno NRCS office in completing the application phase for a USDA conservation program.
Jim graduated from California State University Sacramento with a B.S. in Civil Engineering & Geology. He worked for the NRCS for 32 years before retiring in 2006. In 2008, he felt the need to return to work and applied for an ACES position and has been with the Program ever since. Jim noted, “the ACES Program provides me a friendly work environment while allowing me to support programs and people with my past experience and knowledge.”
