Lynne M Gregory
Lynne Gregory was recognized by EPA Region 2 in Edison, New Jersey for outstanding performance in her pivotal role and support of all aspects of the Newark School Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Project Team’s development and implementation of the first-in-region School IPM Project in an environmental justice area. Adoption and implementation of IPM in all schools is an EPA National Priority. As part of the Region’s Division of Enforcement and Compliance Assistance’s robust strategic plan, a pilot IPM was developed and conducted in Newark, New Jersey. Based on the success of this pilot, all schools in the Newark District are implementing an IPM Project. Ms. Gregory, a Level 4 SEE Program participant, made field visits with EPA officials to all 36 of these Newark schools and met with school faculties to help draft IPM recommendations for each school. Due to the success of this pilot in the Newark District schools, efforts are underway to extend the IPM assessment to other neighboring counties and to showcase the project to many other school districts throughout the Region.
Ms. Gregory has been directly supporting the pesticides outreach program by creating new pesticides outreach materials and delivering presentations. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Botany with an MMA in International Marine Policy, along with a post Bachelor’s certification program in elementary education. Her past experiences at the Raytheon Company as an ecologist/taxonomist, as an environmental biologist with American Cyanamid and as a staff member at Montclair State University have prepared her well for this assignment in the NOWCC SEE Program for EPA.
