Building science professional with experience in building or remodeling homes or schools, including such issues as weatherization, flood or water damage restoration, or energy efficiency upgrades, to assist in the development and implementation of voluntary programs to improve indoor air quality in homes and schools. Responsible for reviewing technical guidance and outreach materials related to indoor air quality and building construction, operation, and maintenance, and for responding to technical inquiries related to building guidance.

• Work in a team-based office developing and implementing voluntary outreach and education programs to increase awareness and demand for indoor air quality protections in new home construction, weatherization or renovation. . Duties may include providing technical support for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Indoor airPLUS labeling program for new homes. Indoor airPLUS helps builders meet the growing consumer preference for homes with improved indoor air qualityby constructing homes that meet EPA's stringent construction specifications.. The employee may be asked to assist in answering technical questions from builders and others on the technical specifications, to review technical guidance for accuracy, and to provide technical input on alternative ways for builders to meet the Indoor airPLUS construction specifications. Duties may also include interactions with the EPA ENERGY STAR New Homes program and the Department of Energy (DOE).    25%
• Help answer technical questions from builders on home weatherization and indoor air quality, energy efficiency, schools energy upgrades, and indoor air quality related issues. Assist in incorporating the new Healthy Indoor Environments (HIE) Protocols for Home Energy Upgrades into existing state and regional weatherization and green building programs (http://www.epa.gov/iaq/homes/retrofits.html).    25%
• Assist in developing indoor environmental quality specifications and protocols targeted to school energy efficiency managers to help them integrate their work with other school facility and health staff and address indoor air quality issues as a routine aspect of carrying out capital improvements to school facilities.    25%
• Provide technical support to EPA, as EPA works with the Departments of Energy and Housing and Urban Development and other Federal agencies to enhance collaboration and integration of health, energy and other green building strategies.    25%
