Tribal Air Monitoring Technology Specialist

Duties:

Management, maintenance and troubleshooting of ambient/indoor air samplers.

  • Maintenance/troubleshooting, and upkeep of sampling monitors, following the receiving/shipping guidelines as specified in the Standard Operating Guidelines (SOG), recommend purchase of new monitoring equipment to the monitor. 45%
  • Inventory/management of existing and future monitors. 30%
  • Other duties as assigned. 25%

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 year(s) of experience in Ambient air monitoring OR BA/BS Degree in Science/technology/pre-engineering.

  • Ability to work alone or one-on-one with tribal professionals.
  • Understand the operation of and the support provided by the Tribal Air Monitoring Support (TAMS) Center.
  • A knowledge of Federal Guidelines contained within the Code of Federal Register (CFR) that apply to ambient air monitoring.
  • Helpful knowledge/skills/certifications:
  • - Knowledge/expertise in performing audits both on Particulate Matter (PM) and gaseous air monitoring is a plus.
  • - This position requires extensive work directly/indirectly with tribes nationwide, hence, helpful to understand the unique relationship between the Tribes and the Federal Government.
  • - Knowledge/familiarity with EPA's Trial Authority Rule (TAR) promulgated in February 1998 and other EPA air quality rules as it pertains to Indian Country.
  • Experience required with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Fax, Copying Machine, Scanner

Other:

  • Health Safety Training: Handling/working with ambient air monitors
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Will be provided in-house, post selection.
  • Required Safety Gear: Steel-toed shoes, hardhat.
  • Safety Gear Use: When moving heavy equipment from within the lab or preparing for shipping.
