Incident Commander Coach and Mentor

Wage/Hr: $50.00 Hours/Week: 20 Minimum Age: 55

This is a remote position - work from home unless determined to be onsite at incident.

Duties:

Provide for coaching and mentoring of incident response personnel in Incident Command System (ICS) Command and General Staff positions at the Type 3, 2, and 1 level. Coaching and mentoring will occur on actual incidents primarily in an Incident Command Post environment or virtually as determined by Monitor. The positions may also refine and deliver National Wildfire Coordination Group (NWCG) training and serve as coaches during simulated incident scenarios associated with formal instruction. Performance will be measured by shortening normal time for trainee's to be qualified.

  • Provide verbal and written feedback to incident trainees on job performance. 60%
  • Provide instruction on Incident Command System, technical and leadership principles relevant to respective command and general staff positions. 30%
  • Provide input to Forest Service Program Manager on program improvement and refinement. 10%

Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in OR BA/BS Degree

  • Within the last 5 years, must have performed the following NWCG incident positions:
  • Incident Commander Type 1 or 2
  • Experience required with Apple Macintosh, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point

Other:

  • Overnight travel: As needed to respond to incidents.
  • Air travel anticipated: As needed
