Happy 150th Birthday to the "People's Department"!

2012 is a very big year for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for it marks the 150th birthday for the Agency!  It was in 1862 that President Abraham Lincoln took time out from the Civil War to sign the legislation that created the Agency.  Since then the USDA has served as “The People’s Department” touching the lives of each and every American every day through its programs on food, agriculture, economic development, science, natural resources and other critical elements of American life.

NOWCC is proud of our partnership with USDA and applauds the work of older Americans who contribute to the mission of USDA through the NOWCC/ACES Program of the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

We wish to express our sincere gratitude to The U.S. Department of Agriculture for its enduring legacy to our American life and for its stewardship of America’s natural resources for our grandchildren and future generations.

Happy 150th Birthday USDA! Best wishes for many more from NOWCC!
