Roy L Mayberry
Roy L. Mayberry came to work in the SEE Program as a Level 4 in the Procurement Section position as a continuation of his career in purchasing and inventory control. His position provides support to the contracting officer by evaluating prices obtained for procurements, preparing contract modifications, preparing purchase orders, inputting data on all procurement tracking systems and reviewing all incoming contractual documents for quality assurance.
With 21 years of military service, Mr. Mayberry retired from the US Navy in 1991. After leaving the Navy, he went to work for Computing Technology International as Executive Office Manager, assisting the CEO in the startup of a software development company. In 1995, Mr. Mayberry moved to North American Van Lines Logistics Division to become Account Supervisor where he expanded inventory to well over $100 million and oversaw the scheduling of day-to-day receiving and shipping. He was also accountable for physical inventory, as well as for tracking the incoming and outgoing product on both a national and international basis. His last position prior to his assignment with the SEE Program was as Procurement Technician with the Army/Air Force Exchange Service. In this capacity Mr. Mayberry oversaw the daily operation of the West Coast Distribution Center in California and was accountable for purchasing and maintaining inventory of all materials.
Because of the current fiscal cutbacks, Mr. Mayberry’s efforts in the Procurement Section are even more vital now than when he started his position. Purchases must still be made but it is essential that EPA obtain the best prices and contractual terms available. With over 20 years in the field of purchasing, shipping and inventory, Mr. Mayberry’s contribution to the Region 6 EPA Procurement Section through the SEE Program is invaluable and is yet another example of the great reliance the EPA places on its SEE Enrollees.
