Dave Oberhauser accepted his SEE Program assignment in the Boston, MA Office of Environmental Stewardship in the EPA Region I, Office of Chemical Emergency Preparedness in October 1997. Dave was responsible for outreach to local emergency planning committees (LEPCs) and city emergency management agencies. Mr. Oberhauser was involved in several chemical accident investigations. Mr. Oberhauser provides Preparedness and Prevention Training sessions and workshops at the state and local level and he provides technical assistance to the public as well as other federal agency staff regarding Chemical Inventory Forms, Contingency Plans, spill simulations, hazard analysis, risk management plans, and regulations. In the late 1990s, Dave was part of a regional team providing Risk Management Planning compliance assistance to the New England industries prior to the implementation of the RMP program.
Mr. Oberhauser also provides support to the Region by conducting field inspections for compliance and enforcement follow-up. He uses his considerable computer and photographic skills in reporting and conducting data analysis. As a result of the CAI Investigation, Dave Oberhauser received a Bronze Metal. Dave has participated in and presented at several regional, state, New England and national conferences and seminars.
Mr. Oberhauser brought to EPA graduate degrees in Chemistry, an MBA and 25 years of experience with increasing responsibility in the Safety and Environmental Fields principally at the Polaroid Corporation as a Scientist and Senior Scientist. He also came with numerous certifications and special training in HAZMAT, first responder, and work place Safety and Environment issues.
