Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in engineering, science, chemistry, geology or related fields. OR Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in chemistry, biology, computer science or related.

Duties:

Assist in the direct implementation of the Safe Drinking Water Act for the state of Wyoming and in Indian Country. Responsibilities include evaluation of Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) compliance data, reports and information received from public water systems, tracking the status of water system compliance, updating data in the Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) database, communicating with water systems, analytical laboratories, technical assistance providers, and tribal liaisons to clarify and confirm information, and other tasks to assist the drinking water unit staff. If approved, these duties may be eligible to be performed in a remote setting.

  • Review information submitted to EPA by public water systems and analytical laboratories to evaluate it for consistency, accuracy and completeness. As needed, confirm information with water systems, analytical laboratories, technical assistance providers, and tribal liaisons. Enter water system information into the SDWIS database or tracking spreadsheets. 45%
  • Query SDWIS to obtain information about specific water systems. Create reports, sort, evaluate and analyze data to make recommendations on the status of water systems for compliance with the LCR. Provide information to the EPA LCR Rule Manager for final compliance decisions. Assist the EPA LCR Rule Manager in generating letters, emails and other communications to water systems. 25%
  • Respond to inquiries from water systems regarding regulatory requirements. Provide assistance to public water systems to help them comply with the LCR. 20%
  • Provide recommendations and assist EPA rule managers with strategies to improve compliance rates for water systems. 10%
